Comedians Roast ‘Cheating Astronomer CEO’ After Viral Video

On Wednesday night, CEO of Astronomer, Andy Byron and recently-appointed HR chief at the same company, Kristin Cabot were shown on the Jumbotron at a Coldplay concert during a kiss cam segment. Assuming the two were a couple, the camera caught Byron hugging Cabot from behind with his arms wrapped around her, swaying to the music. Now, both Byron and Cabot are married, but...to different people, which is what makes the situation interesting. As soon as the two recognized themselves on the big screen, Byron quickly ducked out of frame while Cabot immediately turned her face away from concertgoers, burying her face in her hands while doing so. 

As the camera panned away to another group, lead singer of Coldplay, Chris Martin would react to the awkward moment, joking: "Oh...either they're having an affair or they're very shy" He would later add: I hope we didn't do something bad"

Interestingly enough, many would point out Martin wasn't the one to do something bad, it was the CEO and HR chief who were up to no good, as the situation would become the talk of social media, earning millions of views in the process. Comedian Loni Love would repost the video on her Instagram page writing: "awkward moment caught on tape: Coldplay's Chris Martin unintentionally reveals tech mogul's alleged affair with coworker...what's done in the dark or a Coldplay concert will always come to light"

KevOnStage would be another to respond via social media, with a reaction video.

An online user would also echo the same sentiments as KevOnStage, writing: "Swayyyying" clearly referencing the moment just before the two realized what was going on. Another comedian would write: "In my Katt Williams voice, 'all lies will be exposed'"

Of course, the jokes wouldn't stop there as everyone on the Internet had to chime in. One user would even compare the situation to the NBC sitcom, The Office, showing a scene from the hit show, while writing as a caption: "CEO of Astronomer caught cuddling with his HR chief at a Coldplay concert on the Jumbotron...this scene fits perfectly since Holly's in HR and Michael is her boss"

One more social media user would echo the thoughts of many by breaking down the situation, asking the same questions as everyone else. 

As the story gained more traction, Byron's wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron would remove her last name from her social media account before deleting it entirely. Page Six also reports that Byron became CEO of Astronomer in July 2023, but he has also deleted his LinkedIn account since the incident. 

A statement from Byron has began circulating on the Internet, where the CEO apologizes to his wife, family and co-workers at Astronomer: 

"I want to acknowledge the moment that's been circulating online, and the disappointment it's caused. What was supposed to be a night of music and joy turned into a deeply personal mistake playing out on a very public stage. I want to sincerely apologize to my wife, my family and the team at Astronomer. You deserve better from me as a partner, as a father and as a leader. This is not who I want to be or how I want to represent the company I helped build. I'm taking the time to reflect, to take accountability, and to figure out the next steps, personally and professionally. I ask for privacy as I navigate that process. I also want to express how troubling it is that what should have been a private moment became public without my consent. I respect artists and entertainers, but I hope we can all think more deeply about the impact of turning someone else's life into a spectacle. As a friend once sang: 'Lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones and I will try to fix you"

Many would criticize the statement from Byron, as it avoids accountability, even blaming being caught on Coldplay's Jumbotron. However, in an added twist to the story, several news outlets have reported the previous statement is false, as it doesn't appear on Astronomer's site or any credible news sources.
