Over the weekend, Luenell would shock fans after sharing news of the passing of her ex-husband, whose name she hasn't revealed and for many has kept secret for many years.

Luenell would take to Instagram for the reveal and wrote a caption that read:

"Today was difficult for me. As I was starting to get ready for my last 2 sold out shows here in DC, I got the news that the love of my life, my beautiful ex-husband had gone home to be with/the Lord. It was over. No more breathing machines, no more needles, no more suffering. It's over. Even though we were no longer legally married, we remained in each other's hearts until the very end. I've never been loved like this before, and I'll probably never be loved like this again. But I had it. For one brief time in my life, I was complete. A wifey. A bae. Enjoy our photos as you take a glimpse down memory lane into our lives. Rest in Peace hubby...it was one hell of a ride"

The comedian would receive an overwhelming amount of support from fans and peers, offering their condolences, including Whoopi Goldberg, Jason Lee and George Lopez. DL Hughley would write: "Beautiful words love, the part about you having it for a time...that's something some people go their whole lives and never truly feel. I love you"

Another peer of Luenell, actress Tichina Arnold would offer her thoughts and prayers under the comments by writing: "Aw Lu. So sorry to read this. Sending you [love] and comfort during this difficult moment in time for you. I pray your journey continues to be blessed and prosperous Savor the good times you had with him as his celestial journey begins. Hang in there Lu. Love you"

Comedian Sampson McCormick would do the same. "Remember meeting him in Vegas. A really cool, laid back guy. This must be a lot for you for sure. Sending lots of love your way, keeping you and your family lifted"

Not much is known of Luenell's ex-husband, as the comedian has purposely kept his identity under wraps because they both have a history of being incarcerated. Many found news of the passing surprising, simply because, many didn't know Luenell had been married before. These assumptions could be due to her brand of comedy she's built throughout her career.

Now, back in 2022, during an interview with Jaz Summers, she would reveal she's "basically married, but single" In that same conversation, she would tell Summers of her husbands illness, which remained unidentified throughout the conversation, Regardless, well wishes were given. Luenell would elaborate:

"It's difficult because you see a guy who is healthy electrician stud you know, make love 5, 6, 7, 8 times a day, could build a house and do all this stuff. You see him very frail now. And, it hurts, you know? Yeah. Uh, he also used to travel with me somewhat. And or if anything. I need to fix around the house, he can do it just like them. I don't have that. He doesn't live with me, he lives with his daughter because I'm traveling. And, there would be nobody here to monitor him and stuff. But he's still got a good time. He's still got a slick ass mouth for, and so we still have lively phone and FaceTime conversations and I'm gonna go see him as soon as I can"

The two had been married for over 20 years. When it came time to celebrate the anniversary, Luenell took to Instagram and shared several pictures of them together over the years. In honor of the event, Luenell would say:

"20 years ago today, I became a Mrs. Rarely do I ever post him or his full government name because he don't play that social media bullshit which is one of the things that makes him so valuable to me. He's a real one. Only some of my friends, my soul beat family and my 1 auntie Liza Mae Murphy, the OG of the family, were in attendance. None of my husbands family were there either. We ran off. Soul Beat Television founder and CEO Chuck Johnson walked me down the isle and gave me away to my groom. Long time friend, Gina McKinney Glass was my maid of honor. Songwriter and Gina's husband, was the best man. My daughter, Da'Nelle was 5 and she was not in attendance either. None of my brothers or sisters or hubbies children were there. Just us and the party train. It has been a long and sometimes rocky road for us. But he remains my best friend and chief advisor to this day. Thank you honey for riding with a baddie for all these years. Takes a real man to handle a woman like me and let me be free to fly...you are that man. Love you baby till they put us in a bottle. Your wifey, Luenell. I guess I'll read this to him since he doesn't have IG"
