DL Hughley Taunts Trump After New Poll Results With Kamala Harris
Ever since Joe Biden announced he would be dropping out of the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election and endorsed Kamala Harris as the new nominee, energy surrounding the Democratic Party has completely changed. Kamala Harris would host a rally in Atlanta on Tuesday, with a performance by Meg thee Stallion and a speech by Atlanta rapper, Quavo; this added even more excitement and criticism to the campaign.
DL Hughley would seemingly live tweet and post during the event. Hughley would also address the support Harris is receiving by commenting on the ever-changing poll numbers, which currently show Harris ahead of Trump in several key states. Hughley would tweet:
"I don't need polls to tell me the race is changing! I hear all the hit dogs hollering!"
In addition, the comedian would also share a photoshopped picture that appears to come from the Life Alert commercials. Donald Trump's head is photoshopped onto the senior citizen that has fallen. The caption read: "Help! I'm falling in the polls...and I can't get up"
Aside from the appearances by prominent hip-hop figures, during the rally, Harris would make several attempts to relate to and reach the youth, with mixed responses. Some found Harris' references of hip-hop lyrics and slang were cringy and in-genuine while others thought her efforts at getting younger generations to vote were a necessary tactic.
Georgia is currently predicted to be a key battleground state this upcoming election, particularly because back in 2020, the state primarily voted Democrat after years of historically voting Republican. When it comes to the state of Georgia, poll numbers show that Trump is slightly ahead at 48% while Harris is at 46%. In terms of likability in Georgia, 47% of voters view Harris as favorable while 51% see her as unfavorable. Meanwhile, 50% of Georgia voters also view Trump as an unfavorable candidate.
One user on social media would echo a similar sentiment as DL Hughley by writing: "The media might not say it, but Democrats are by far more enthusiastic about electing Vice President Kamala Harris as President than Republicans are about electing Donald Trump."
While another social media user would mock the public's criticisms and point out the hypocrisies of using celebrities for political endorsements "Monday it's 'I'm not listening to no Swae Lee' Tuesday it's 'Quavo got the answers'"
One more social media user would say: "Meg has 32 million followers on Instagram. Quavo has 23. Both have been victims of gun violence. Both have been vocal about changes that need to occur in our community. I don't understand what's not clicking for you all"
What do you guys think about Kamala Harris' rally on Tuesday in Atlanta? Do you think appearances by Quavo and Meg thee Stallion were necessary?
